To get rid of radioactive waste in Probably Stolen, wait until after closing, carry the barrels in the backpack you take on your outing, travel to the Dumping Grounds, place them on the ground and leave. Then check that the barrels are no longer in your carried inventory. Be aware that a scripted event involving Georgio can bring dumped waste back. If that happens, repeat the disposal.

Why radioactive waste is a problem
Radioactive waste is one of the hazards players search for most. It is a liability in your shop, and players want to know how to remove it safely. Community guides and player reports describe a consistent way to do that.
The details here come from community guides and from player accounts in an official Steam discussion. The developer has not published an official specification of the trigger. We note where evidence is thin.
Step by step: dumping the barrels
First, wait until the shop is closed and you head out for the evening. Put the waste in the backpack you use for the outing. Only take what you can carry safely.
Next, travel to the Dumping Grounds. Place the barrels on the ground there and leave. Finally, open your inventory and confirm the barrels are gone from what you are carrying.
The Dumping Grounds
The Dumping Grounds is also a scavenging location. Update 049 notes that scavenging wound chances now show your flashlight bonus as soon as you arrive. Tools left on the ground there now count as within reach.
That is useful if you combine a dumping trip with scavenging. Keep the trip focused, though: the priority is getting the waste out of your inventory.
Why the barrels come back
Several sources describe a scripted return event involving Georgio. During it, dumped waste can come back to you. Do not assume your first successful drop ends the matter permanently.
The reports also do not show that only one barrel can return. If waste reappears after the event, dump it again the same way. Check your inventory after every trip.
Who is Georgio?
Georgio is a recurring character on the station. The developer's 1.0 preview lists "More of Georgio" among the new features, so expect to see more of him in the full release. Details of his new content are not public yet.
His waste event may change in 1.0. Recheck this guide's steps after October 28.
Claims to avoid
Some guides go beyond the evidence. The reports do not support a universal radiation-damage formula. They also do not support a guaranteed sale price for the waste.
Be wary of exploits that use sacrificial containers to dodge the problem. These were not verified. Where community guides quote a payment from an encounter, treat it as one observation rather than a fixed reward.
What the video shows
The episode below comes from a Rock Bottom run on Hard Mode with Sentinel Collapse Disorder. Those are demanding challenge conditions. The stakes in that run are higher than in a normal game.
Use it to see the situation in context, not as a baseline. The developer warns against playing with Sentinel Collapse Disorder on your first run.
Version notes
These steps reflect the Demo and player reports at the time of writing. The developer has not published the exact trigger details. The 1.0 release may change Georgio's content and the waste event.

Planning the trip
Treat waste disposal as part of your evening routine, not an emergency. The trip happens after closing, so it does not cost you trading time. Plan it on a night when you have nothing more urgent to do after hours.
Carry only the barrels and what you need for the outing. A cluttered backpack makes it harder to confirm the waste has really gone. Empty it as soon as you get back so stray items do not hide a returned barrel.
Keeping the shop safe in the meantime
Until you can dump the waste, keep it out of the way. Do not put it on display or mix it with stock you plan to sell. Players report wanting it gone quickly, and a cluttered inventory makes mistakes more likely.
If a customer asks about it, remember that the reports do not support a guaranteed sale price. Some community guides quote payments from specific encounters, but those are single observations. Do not build your budget around them.
If the waste keeps coming back
The return event is the part that confuses players most. You dump the barrels, and later they appear again after Georgio's event. That is expected behaviour according to player reports, not a failed drop.
Repeat the same steps: carry them after closing, drop them at the Dumping Grounds and leave. Check your inventory after each trip. Keep doing this until the barrels stop returning in your run.
Common questions
Where do I dump radioactive waste? At the Dumping Grounds, after closing. Place the barrels on the ground and leave.
Why did the barrels come back? A scripted event involving Georgio can return dumped waste. Dump them again the same way.
Can I sell radioactive waste? The reports do not support a guaranteed sale price. Treat any quoted payment as one encounter, not a fixed reward.
Is there an official guide to this event? No. The steps here come from community guides and player reports in an official Steam discussion, not a developer ruling.
Quick checklist
Wait until after closing. Pack the barrels in your outing backpack.
Go to the Dumping Grounds, drop them and leave. Confirm they are gone from your inventory. If Georgio's event returns them, repeat.
