The full game launches October 28, 2026 on Steam for Windows PC. What arrives at launch and after.

Release & Access · Checked October 25, 2026 · 4 min read

The Probably Stolen release date is October 28, 2026. The full game, version 1.0, launches on Steam for Windows PC. On October 25, 2026, it has not been released yet. The free Demo is a separate product that came out on September 14, 2026, so playing the Demo is not the same as owning the full game.

How the date was announced

The developer announced the date on September 14, 2026, in the Update 049 patch notes and at the tinyBuild Connect showcase. The release date trailer went live the same day. Its description states the October 28 full release and links the Demo.

The developer's October 21 post, titled "Opening October 28", confirmed the date again a week before launch. The Steam listing shows the same date. All official sources agree.

What time does it unlock?

We could not confirm a release hour. A calendar date alone does not tell you when the game unlocks in every time zone. Be wary of countdowns that give an exact hour without an official source.

Check the Steam store page on launch day. It will show the purchase option once the game is available in your region.

Platforms at launch

The official Steam listing is for Windows PC. It lists Windows 10 64-bit as the minimum operating system. Steam does not list macOS or Linux versions.

We found no verified console release or console date. If a console version is announced, we will add it here with the source.

The Demo is not the full game

The free Demo launched on September 14, 2026 and received an aquaculture update on October 19. It is a separate Steam app. It does not include all nine launch starting scenarios or the 1.0 ending.

The developer says the Demo will no longer be available once 1.0 is released. If you want to try it, do so before launch. Our Demo guide covers what it includes.

What arrives in version 1.0

The October 21 preview lists the main 1.0 features. They include the game ending where you buy and own the store, end-game items and four difficulty options after you pick a starting scenario. Steam Workshop support arrives with a modding API and mod localization support.

The list also includes completed storylines for several NPCs and expanded backstories for wanted-list characters. There are new starting perks, 21 Steam achievements and a UI overhaul. Vending machines that sell goods overnight complete the list.

Nine starting scenarios

Version 1.0 launches with nine starts: Apprentice, Water Merchant, Fence, Rock Bottom, Hydroponic Farmer, Gunsmith, Chemist, Rat Wrangler and Aquafarmer. The developer recommends Apprentice for beginners. Rock Bottom is described as maximum difficulty.

Our tier list compares them by goal. Several, such as Chemist, are not playable in the current Demo.

Languages at launch

The developer says the full game will be available in Simplified Chinese, Russian, Spanish, French, German, Polish and Japanese. English is also supported. The Steam listing shows these eight languages for the full game.

The Demo lists fewer: English, German, Japanese, Russian and Simplified Chinese. Spanish, French and Polish arrive with 1.0.

Plans after launch

The developer says 1.0 is not the end of development, with regular free content updates planned. Announced post-launch content includes the Organ Trader, Junker and Street Food Vendor starts, with Junker coming shortly after launch. A main storyline expansion and an Expedition feature are also planned.

None of these have dates. Treat them as plans, not launch features.

Demo saves and mods

Demo saves are compatible with 1.0, according to the developer, but starting a new game is strongly recommended to avoid potential bugs. Mods made for the Demo will likely not be compatible with the main game. Official mod support arrives with the Workshop.

See the mods guide before you rely on any Demo mod.

How popular is the Demo?

PC Gamer covered the Demo after it appeared on Steam's most-played list during Next Fest. The article separates that Demo from the October 28 full release. Its player counts are historical snapshots, not live figures.

The developer reported in August that 100,000 players had tried the playtest and that the game had reached 100,000 wishlists.

Before launch day

If you want to try the game first, play the free Demo before October 28. It will be removed when 1.0 releases. Your Demo saves are compatible, but a new game is recommended.

Wishlist the full game on Steam if you want a notification at launch. Check the Steam page on the day for the exact moment the purchase option appears in your region.
